Abstract : Fruits and seeds of mangoes, cvs Himsagar and Bombai, were found to have a sigmoid growth pattern. Harvest maturity was attained 86 and 80 days, respectively, after fruit set. Reducing and total sugar contents of the peel and flesh of both cvs rose markedly at harvest maturity, accompanied by a sharp decline in polysaccharide content. Sugar contents were higher in the flesh than in the peel. Data are also presented on changes in N contents (soluble, protein and total) during fruit development.
