Abstract : In 2-year studies with fruits of the mango cv. Dashehari variations in the following indices were determined from 76 to 100 days after fruit set: fruit weight, weight increase/day, diameter, length, specific gravity, the percentage of moisture, peel, pulp and stone, organoleptic rating, skin and pulp colour, lenticel characteristics and fruit shape. The data are tabulated. The fruits attained harvest maturity 92 days after fruit set. Skin colour and lenticel characteristics were the most practical maturity determinants. Mature fruits were characterized by Scheele's green skin colour accompanied by a light yellow blush, the lenticels being primrose yellow.
