Abstract : African Invader fly, Bactrocera invadens is one of the major constraints to Mango production in many African developing countries. This study was conducted in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State Nigeria to determine the incidence of this new invasive fruit fly B. invadens on Mango in the area. Adult B. invadens were monitored in five randomly selected locations (Olokoro, old Umuahia, Ubakala, Nsirimo and Amachara) within the L.G.A using Lyn field traps baited with parapheromones (Methyl eugenol). The recently introduced alien species of B. invadens were found in all the five sites during the three weeks of trapping. There was no significant difference in the mean population of B. invadens amongst the different locations sampled in Umuahia South Local Government Area, however, the result obtained indicated the presence of B. invadens in Umuahia South L.G.A. There is need for further studies on development of protein-baited traps to be used for reducing B. invadens populations so as to achieve food security in Sub Saharan Africa.
