Abstract : This paper assesses the impact of emerging agricultural marketing channels arising from the implementation of the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Act in Bihar and Jharkhand. Mangoes and cauliflowers are used as reference crops. The paper examines the farmers' marketing margins, the degree of market efficiency and incidence of post-harvest losses, the market practices and services, and the constraints faced by farmers in emerging marketing channels vis-a-vis the traditional marketing channels.
