Effect of Mango, Bamboo and Haldu plants on physico-chemical properties of soil in Tarai region.

Abstract : In Integrated watershed management approach plantation of horticultural and forestry plant is very common. In the present study the objective was to examine the effect of three selected varieties viz. Mango (Magnifera Indica), Bamboo and Haldu (Adina cordifolia) plants on the physical and chemical properties of the soil in the Tarai region of India. Soil samples were collected from sites randomly and analyzed for change in their properties with respect to each other and compared with area without any plantations. The analysis of the samples showed that both Mango and Bamboo plants are suitable for increasing the overall fertility of the soil and are also useful in preventing soil erosion which helps in soil and water conservation.
