Abstract : The trunks or foliage of mature mango trees infested with D. mangiferae were sprayed with chlorfenvinphos, diazinon, methyl parathion [parathion-methyl], chlorpyrifos, monocrotophos, fenitrothion, phosalone, trichlorphon, quinalphos, carbaryl or malathion at concentrations ranging from 0.05-0.3%. All treatments provided considerable control of the pest compared with the controls (water sprays). Trunk sprays resulted in 78-99% nymph mortality 3 days after spraying, the most effective insecticides being diazinon, methyl parathion and quinalphos. Foliar sprays resulted in 63-85% mortality 2 days after application, monocrotophos, fenitrothion and chlorfenvinphos being the most effective.
