Abstract : A field experiment was conducted in 2009 in a 30-35 year old naturally infected mango orchard (cv. Dashehari) at an experimental block of Rehmankhera farm, Lucknow, to evaluate the efficacy of some minerals and a mineral oil for the control of sooty disease of mango. Bio-efficacy of mineral oil (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. India), starch powder (2%) and a combination of a fungicide (wettable sulphur, 0.2%) + insecticide (monocrotophos 0.05%) and Gum Arabica (0.3%), were evaluated along with control. All the treatments were found significantly effective in minimizing the disease over the control. However, mineral oil formulation at 2% was found significantly effective and superior in minimizing the disease over control (64.9% reduction) followed by 58.7% reduction with mineral oil at 2.5%.
