Abstract : In trials with the mango cv. Mulgoa the trees were treated with Cycocel [chlormequat] or Alar [daminozide] each at 5000 p.p.m. at monthly intervals between May and January. Cycocel and Alar increased the number of flowering shoots from 25% in the control to 85 and 47%, respectively. Both retardants significantly lowered the respiration rate at all growth stages. The levels of chlorophyll and carotenoids were consistently higher in treated leaves.
