Abstract : Internal breakdown was not related to the Ca content of the pulp from affected mangoes but K concentration was lower and P concentration higher than in healthy pulp. Acetaldehyde accumulated in the affected pulp, and pyruvic acid and alpha -ketoglutaric acid concentrations and malic enzyme and pectin methylesterase activities were higher than in healthy pulp.
