Abstract : Fruits of the mango cv. Oliveira Neto were dipped in water at 50 deg C for 30 min, at 55 deg for 5 min or at 55 deg for 10 min. After hot water treatment the fruits were dipped in solutions containing benomyl (0.1%), thiabendazole (0.08%) or captan (0.135%). The 3 fungicides were effective against anthracnose [Glomerella cinqulata] only in fruits dipped at 55 deg for 5 min. Dipping at 50 deg for 30 min or 55 deg for 10 min was sufficient to control anthracnose without the fungicides. No treatment was effective against stem-end rot (Diplodia natalensis [Botryodiplodia theobromae]).
