Status of stone weevil (Sternochetus mangiferae) and pulp weevil (S. frigidus) of mango in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra.

Abstract : The incidence of stone weevil (S. mangiferae) and pulp weevil (S. frigidus [Cryptorhynchus frigidus]) in 5 major mango production areas (Vengurle, Kudal, Sawantwadi, Deogad and Malvan) in Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra, India, was studied in 2006. The percentage of fruits infested by stone weevil was highest in Sawantwadi (3.37%), followed by Vengurle (2.62%), Kudal (2.33%), Deogad (1.02%) and Malvan (0.75%). Pulp weevil was not detected in all production areas.
