Technical note: Vitamin C content and distribution in mangoes during ripening.

Abstract : Vitamin C levels in the peel of mature unripe Alphonso, Dasheri, Langra and Pairi mango fruits were 199-214, 131, 542-597 and 250 mg/100 g fresh weight, respectively. Corresponding levels in the pulp were much lower, viz. 89-103, 30, 114-143, and 41 mg/100 g. In these four cvs the peel constituted 16-20% of the fruit.
